Wow – it’s been a hot second since I’ve blogged! I vowed a few months ago to regularly blog, and promptly headed into a season of intense wedding planning and meeting strict book deadlines, all while working a full time job. Sufficient to say, my energy has been elsewhere. But I’m back and eager to begin writing more! I’ve been working on something special for the upcoming Advent season, and I’m excited to share it soon!
I wanted to share a bit about our wedding day! It was the most special day I could have imagined!
Some of my favorite moments were the quieter moments. The moments where the magnitude of what I was about to do really sank in. Each one of these moments is forever seared in my mind, and I’ll treasure them always.
While we were getting ready, one of my bridesmaids read Charles Spurgeon aloud. The hotel room we were getting ready in had a stunning view of the mountains and as I sat quietly getting my hair done, another dear friend quoted Psalm 121 “I look to the hills, from where does my help come?” I loved the quiet encouragement and refocusing shared with me as I got ready!
Before I put my dress, my sweet bridesmaids gathered around me and prayed for me – that our marriage would honor the Lord and that we would love one another selflessly!
Getting ready with my mom, almost mother-in-law, and my bridesmaids was surreal, and I enjoyed the process of slipping into my dress surrounded by the most precious women in my life!
My dad and I had a “first look” in the small chapel of the church. Words can’t express that special moment between a father and daughter just moments before he walked me down the aisle. There wasn’t a dry eye between us.
Michael and I opted not to do a first look. We both wanted the first time we saw one another to be as I was walking down the aisle to him. Instead, we stood around a corner and prayed together. My senses were heightened as I entered the room and grabbed his hand. We prayed together and had a few quiet moments to chat!
Right before I walked down the aisle, a bridesmaid leaned over and quoted Psalm 18 “The lines have fallen for me in beautiful places!” What a special thing to hold in my heart right before I walked down the aisle to become a wife!
Another quiet moment we shared was right after our ceremony. We slipped back into the small chapel to exchange our wedding gifts and enjoy our first few minutes of being married! I
I’ve gotta share a funny story! Our precious pastor introduced us to the congregation gland everyone clapped and cheered. The only problem was, he hasn’t told Michael he could kiss the bride. After an awkward moment, he realized the mistake and gave Michael permission to kiss me!
If you’re getting married, I highly encourage you to structure your day so you’re able to have those types of special moments. Obviously the whole wedding was incredibly special, but there’s something especially memorable about the tender looks Michael and I exchanged, the scriptures whispered into my ear, and the sweet conversations between dear friends! Being married to Michael is the most precious gift, and I’m grateful to be the lady who’s with him forever!
