Over the past few years, I’ve bounced around the internet a bit, but I think I’ve finally found my writing home for a while. For those that have followed my work, you know that I wrote for Patheos for about two years, but left a few months ago. While I loved Patheos, my desire was to write a bit more personally, and Patheos wasn’t exactly the right platform for that. Writing on faith and culture is a passion of mine, but I wanted to have the freedom and flexibility to write deeper and more personal.
It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged. To be honest, when life gets busy, my blog is one of the easiest things to ignore. I want to write consistently on my blog, but clearly haven’t done a very good job recently. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak!
Even though I’m working on my first book, I want to continue writing and blogging regularly. My goal is to publish new content here every Monday and Thursday! Consistency is something I’m striving for, so if I make a public commitment, I’m more likely to uphold it. My goal for this space is to feel comfortable, familiar, and a place where we can let down our guards and get real.
Also, I thought I’d share a bit of a life update. The past few months have been filled to the brim. Spring time is the busiest time on Capitol Hill, and we’re currently in the middle of a six week stretch of session. At the beginning of the year, I took on several more issues in my Legislative Assistant portfolio – including healthcare, which has kept me busy! To be completely honest – I’ve felt weary recently. In addition to working a full time job on the Hill, I’m trying to finish up the first half of my book, which is due next month. I’m beyond grateful to pour my heart out into the pages of a book, but this season of life is exhausting!
I’ve talked quite vaguely about the topic of my book, and think it’s about time I begin talking more concretely about it – both here and elsewhere. Desiring God is set to run an article on it the topic of the book this Wednesday.
Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter Chats with Chels, where every Thursday morning, I send out a brief update, something that’s making me smile, a song I’m loving, a piece I’m reading, and a nugget of wisdom! My goal with my newsletter is to fill your inbox with a weekly dose of joy!
